Play of the Day – 4/3/11

Top Play: Tyler Colvin throws out runner for double play

This was clutch for the Cubs at the time, even though they ended up losing 5-4 to the Pittsburgh Pirates. Also note how Geovany Soto face checks Jaramillo during the tag. Priceless.

Runner-up: Brent Seabrook destroys Steve Downie

Got to show some love for Brent Seabrook for this great hit on cheap-shot artist Steve Downie. Love seeing Downie trying to get into a scuffle only to be shrugged off like a fly.

Play of the Day – 4/2/11

Top Play: Derrick Rose skies to block James Johnson

I don’t think James Johnson has been rejected like that since the high school prom.

Runner-up: Jimmy Howard goes post-to-post to make miraculous save

As a Hawks fan you want to see that puck go in, but I have to give Jimmy his due here for that save.

Play of the Day – 4/1/11

Top Play: John Mayberry Jr. hits a walk off single to win game for Phillies

Nothing better than seeing a pinch hitter get the job done when his team needs him most.

Runner-up: Corey Crawford saves lead to Kane goal

This is two-way hockey at it’s finest.

Play of the Day – 3/31/11

Top Play: Ben Eager five-holes himself for goal

The former Hawks’ enforcer takes a pass and converts it to one of the best goals of the year.

Runner-up: Jacob Tucker wins NCAA dunk contest

The Illini should get this guy to transfer.

Play of the Day – 3/26/11

Top Play: Derrick Rose making Brandon Jennings look like a fool

I haven’t seen anyone get turned inside out like that since Tyreke Evans.

Runner-up: Derrick Rose… again

Great play on both ends. Good find by Derrick, good conversion by Brew.

Play of the Day – 3/25/11

Top Play: Brandon Knight sinks Ohio St.

Brandon Knight is the epitome of clutch for Kentucky this tournament. Possible top five draft pick now?

Runner-up: Sam Young put back dunk on Bulls

At least it wasn’t Tony Allen doing it on us.

Play of the Day – 3/24/11

Top Play: Emeka Okafor circus shot buzzer beater to force OT

I don’t think Okafor has ever taken a shot from this deep in his entire life until last night. What’s more impressive is how off-balance he was to still bank it in. Fortunately New Orleans beat the Jazz in overtime 121-117.

Runner-up: Derrick Williams’ put back dunk on Duke

After watching yesterday’s game, Derrick Williams = GOD (and the first overall pick)!

Play of the Day – 3/22/11

Top Play: Javale McGee with the “st-ock” on Wes Matthews

I call this the “st-ock” because he stole the ball and blocked it the same time. Get it? I thought this only happened in NBA Street.

Runner-up: C.J. Watson with the spin and reverse layup

Maybe if Kirk wasn’t wearing those stupid goggles he might’ve saw this coming…

Play of the Day – 3/21/11

Top Play: Derrick Rose reverse slam against the Kings

It was only a matter of time before Derrick would make top plays. Great play and great win by the Baby Bulls tonight.

Runner-up: Matt Cooke gets suspended for rest of regular season + first round of playoffs

NHL fans can finally sigh in relief, as resident douchebag Matt Cooke of the Pittsburgh Penguins is gone for the last 10 games of the regular season and the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the hit above. Now the next question is when is karma going to come back to Cooke? Click the link and smile while you watch Cooke get KO’d in one punch by a fed up 19 year old.

Play of the Day – 3/20/11

Top Play: Arizona’s Derrick Williams seals game with three-point play

This kid is playing himself into the top two picks of this year’s NBA Draft. He should probably slow down before he ends up in Cleveland.

Runner-up: Clayton Stoner destroys Ryan White

Is there a sicker name than Clayton Stoner? Well, besides Cal Clutterbuck I don’t think there is.
