Shouts to my boy Simon for showing me this one. It totally flew over my head as not many blogs seemed to catch this song’s release. Apparently it is off of Peter Rosenberg’s mixtape, titled What’s Poppin’ Vol. 1. If I’m not mistaken, J. Cole’s verse is new. The person who really stands out is the newcomer known as SD. Here’s the backstory from PigeonsandPlanes.com:
Who is SD? I did a little digging and found out that he is Spencer Datt. Hence the title “Who Datt.” I did a little more digging and here’s the full story.
Spencer Datt was the little brother of Peter Rosenberg’s fiancee. He was killed in a drunk driving accident in May, at age 18, when a car he was in with four others crashed into a tree. Everyone except the driver passed away. Here’s what Rosenberg said about Spencer back in May:
Before Spencer passed away, he had started dabbling in rhyming. I wish I had told him how much potential he had, but I didn’t want to gas him up so early on. I should have. And I should have told him that he was just about my favorite person on earth to hang out with, but I think he knew that. He was an amazing person who brought joy to everyone. I will take him with me in everything I do from now until forever. I love you Spencer.
As a brand new rapper–he actually had his own style. He borrowed from his favorites, but he really had his own spin. Keep in mind–he was brand new, but I love the way he sounded. He actually was an MC.

Song of the Day
Childish Gambino has been on point with all of his Adele samples, and today’s SOTD is no different. “Do Ya Like” is one of his earlier songs he made from the mixtape Culdesac. He samples Adele’s “Melt My Heart To Stone”. Looking forward to whatever he plans on releasing next and hopefully more Adele is included.

Donald Glover, who many of you may recognize from Youtube’s successful comedy group Derrick Comedy and NBC’s hit show Community, is quietly buzzing in the hip-hop world as Childish Gambino. Glover has recently released an EP, simply titled EP. The next Drake, perhaps? Take a listen to one of my favorite songs off of EP and you be the judge.
