Play of the Day – 3/24/11

Top Play: Emeka Okafor circus shot buzzer beater to force OT

I don’t think Okafor has ever taken a shot from this deep in his entire life until last night. What’s more impressive is how off-balance he was to still bank it in. Fortunately New Orleans beat the Jazz in overtime 121-117.

Runner-up: Derrick Williams’ put back dunk on Duke

After watching yesterday’s game, Derrick Williams = GOD (and the first overall pick)!

Play of the Day – 3/18/11

Top Play: Jameer Nelson sinks a buzzer beater to beat the Denver Nuggets

Haven’t been paying attention to NBA basketball with all of this March Madness going on? This is all you need to see.

Runner-up: Derrick Rose

More of a top play-er than play today. Rose just went off against Indiana tonight, tying a career high in points with 42, going 18-21 from the free throw line, and single handedly leading the Bulls from a 16 point deficit to force overtime. Rose his three clutch free throws with virtually no time on the clock to secure overtime. However, the Bulls fell to the Pacers 115-108. Somebody get this guy some help!

Play of the Day – 3/17/11

Top Play: Demonte Harper game-winner/Kenneth Faried block on Mike Marra

The two-for-one special, as Harper’s shot put Morehead St. over heavily favorited Louisville. Probably the biggest upset of the day.

Runner-up: Matt Howard buzzer-beating lay in.

Shades of 2010’s tourney here, as Butler remarkably beats Old Dominion with a sick lay in at the buzzer.

Play of the Day – 3/15/11

Top Play: Danny Granger buzzer beater to beat New York Knicks

There can never be too many buzzer beaters, right?

Runner-up: Evander Kane sick pass to Tim Stapleton

This pass is ridiculously hard to make. Kane basically has his head down and makes a perfect, back-handed cross-ice pass for the one-timer. Just dirty.

(Note: Please just proceed to ESPN’s youtube since they won’t let me embed. It’s the very first highlight.)

Play of the Day – 3/12/11

Here are today’s top plays:

Play of the Day: Washington’s Isaiah Thomas’ buzzer beater to beat Arizona

Gus Johnson + anything = greatness. Move over Kemba Walker, we have yet another step-back jumper to end a game in the last few days. Isaiah Thomas’ buzzer beater upset #15 Arizona Wildcats to win the Pac-10 Tournament. Enjoy.

Runner-up: Princeton’s Douglas Davis’ buzzer beater to beat Harvard

Two buzzer beaters in one day? Thank you, Jesus!

New Feature: Play of the Day

Everyone’s favorite part of Sportscenter is its nightly Top 10 Plays of the Day, so why not have our own Play of the Day daily feature here at CSC?  As you would expect, we’ll post the best play in from any sport (as long as there is video online) and likely a runner-up. So, let’s begin:

Play of the Day: Kemba Walker’s Buzzer Beater vs. Pitt

The only thing I can think of while watching this clip: “Damn, Brittney Griner just got her ankles broken!”

Runner-up: Guy Dupuy does a between-the-legs dunk over a car

This guy’s no joke. He would own every single NBA player in the dunk contest. Just let him in next year, Mr. Stern. Please?
