Song of the Day

The Cool Kids recently dropped another track off of their upcoming debut album, When Fish Ride Bicycles, called “Swimsuits”. I really dig the chorus sung by Mayer Hawthorne.

New music for this week

This was one of the best week’s in music releases in recent memory. Here’s my list of all the top songs that came out this week:

1. Lost Ones – J. Cole

One of the most real and powerful songs to come out this year. Cole gives you an experience you’ll never forget.

2. Mama’s Boyfriend- Kanye West

A leak that was never supposed to drop. Kanye has said that the beat to this song was manufactured by the parties that got ahold of the vocals. Interesting.

3. Work Out – J. Cole

J. Cole’s single off of his upcoming album.

4. The Birds (Pt. 1) – The Weeknd

Second leak from upcoming mixtape Thursday.

5. Dear Anne (Stan Pt. 2) – Lil Wayne

Beat reportedly turned down by Eminem as Stan Part 2, so Swizz Beatz gave it to Wayne for Tha Carter IV.

Song of the Day

This one is for my boy John! What up! Song is “Light One Up” by Cleveland rapper Chip Tha Ripper. It was my favorite track off of the mixtape Gift Raps by far.

Song of the Day

Drake continues his reign as SOTD leader after dropping his new R&B joint titled off of Take Care, “Marvin’s Room”. Not sure what it really has to do with the play of the same name, but if you’re in need of an ex, then this is the song for you. Listen and try not to cry, lol.

Although I didn’t like Wale‘s mixtape, More About Nothing, as much as others, one song that stood out was “Break-up Song”. Above is the official music video for it, and, if you liked the film 500 Days of Summer, you’ll love the video.

Song of the Day

Today’s SOTD is from a little mixtape called October’s Very Cold and is a mashup of various Drake songs and Coldplay hits. My favorite off of the mixtape is called “The Fly Scientist” which combines Drake’s “I’m Still Fly” and Coldplay’s “The Scientist”.

UGK and Outkast’s “Int’l Players Anthem”  is a classic. Enough said.

Song of the Day

The Weeknd recently dropped a new track off of his upcoming mixtape Thursday, which is supposed to drop sometime soon, according to The Weeknd himself. The track is called “Rolling Stone” and features The Weeknd singing along to the melodic tone of an acoustic guitar. The song is not quite as dark and dreary as what’s featured on House of Balloons, but it gets a passing grade.

Song of the Day

Start Your Own Rebellion is a group/rapper (?) who I don’t know much about, however his/their J. Cole-produced song, “Let It Go” was appealing to me on first listen. Apparently S.Y.O.R. makes music, cartoons, and comic books according to their website http://www.startyourrebellion.com. Check them out.

Song of the Day

Mike Posner recently dropped a cover of one of my favorite Coldplay songs, “The Scientist”. Posner puts his own creative spin to it, adding a heavy bass and beat, creating a very dub-step-ish version of the classic song. Posner fans and Coldplay fans alike should dig this one.
