Freshly leaked today is J. Cole‘s “Killers”, a self-proclaimed classic from the vaults off of renowned artist Alex Haldi‘s The Glorification of Gangster mixtape set to release in April. The mixtape is a promotional precursor to Haldi’s art exhibition which is showcasing on May 12th at the World Monuments Fund Gallery in New York City. The gallery focuses on the public’s fascination with crime. The mixtape will feature a variety of artists from all over the musical spectrum.
Cole’s self-produced “Killers” sends a strong message to those who listen. In addition to the melancholy production, J. Cole showcases his versatile style and storytelling over the three verses the song provides. He begins the song with attention-grabbing bar “Mama I just killed a man.” and never lets go throughout. This song is one of his best yet and must be listened to multiple times to be really appreciated.
